This specialization will allow you to:

  • Use big data analytics to guide companies' decision-making based on their goals and strategies.
  • Collaborate in the development of projects in the field of business development and management through the processing of big data.
  • Perform implementation tasks of big data processing systems in a work team.
  • Know the main techniques for the integration and debugging of Big Data sets obtained from different sources and applications.
  • Properly use the most frequently used data processing engines.
  • Select and establish the most suitable filters and queries to extract relevant information from a set of big data.
  • Prepare statistical documents and reports as a result of Big Data processing.

Professional Competences:

People who have obtained the documentation proving they have passed this specialization program will be able to carry out their professional activity in the Information and Communication Technologies sector and large-scale data analysis as operators and consultants in the processing of big data.

According to information provided by Invest In Madrid, the regional office for the promotion and attraction of foreign investment in the Community of Madrid, the Big Data sector shows a growth rate of 30% in Spain each year, seven times more than investment in traditional technology, which has made it the fourth country in the European Union with the most technology jobs.

The general competence of this specialization program consists of knowing and handling specific applications for the processing, integration, management and analysis of structured and unstructured big data, as well as the operating principles of Big Data in order to address business activities related to product development, predictive maintenance, customer experience, anti-fraud and operational efficiency.

The professional, personal and social competences of this specialization program are:

Objectives:

  • Value and understand the strategic importance of big data analysis in business decision-making.
  • Obtain a global vision of the impact of Big Data-based projects on business development and management.
  • Install, configure and manage Big Data systems.
  • Know and properly use data processing tools in Big Data infrastructures.
  • Know the basics of the models, architectures and programming languages common in Big Data.
  • Know and manage different options for massive data storage, selecting the most appropriate tool in each case.
  • Prepare conclusions and reports on the processing of massive structured and unstructured data, once properly integrated and purified.

Evaluation:

The evaluation will be objective, it will attend to diversity, the tests corresponding to the final evaluations will always be taken face-to-face, and the teaching staff will inform the students of their main characteristics and the procedure, as well as the procedure to make any corresponding claims.

Each professional module of the specialization program will be evaluated in a single examination session for final evaluation at the end of the training activities. Each module will have a maximum of two examination sessions per academic year, and a total of four possible examination sessions.

Failure to pass a module in the two examination sessions of the academic year will mean that the student must enroll in the module(s) that they did not pass in order to have another two examination sessions.

In order to pass the specialization program, it is required to pass all the professional modules it contains. The specialization program passed will have a final grade obtained as a result of the arithmetic mean of all the professional modules included therein.

The professional modules included in the Big Data specialization program may not be subject to validation nor exemption.

Admission requirements:

In order to enroll in the Specialization Program in Big Data, it will be a requirement to have the degree of Senior Technical Officer corresponding to one of the following Advanced Training Programs linked to this degree:

  • Administration of Computer Network Systems.
  • Cross-platform Application Development.
  • Web Applications Development.
  • Telecommunications and Computer Systems.
  • Automation and Industrial Robotics.
  • Industrial Mechatronics.

Official Degree of Specialization Program in Big Data.

Approved by the Community of Madrid (according to Order 1830/2020, of the Ministry of Education and Youth)
